The magical holiday season is no different in Madeira than most other place. The streets are decorated with thousand of colorful lights and the lamp posts are connected with a light chain creating a road map from above. The lights and the marvelous fireworks display on New Years Eve create something so special that once people have spent the holidays in this environment, they are hooked and return year after year.

The Carnival in Madeira is a one of the most well known carnivals in Europe and provides hours of fun and entertainment. With two very different Carnival parades, the first one is on the Saturday of Carnival weekend and is much more elaborate. The second parade is held on the Tuesday ending the Carnival period. The planning and organization needed for this weekend becomes more involved every year. The second parade is held on the Tuesday ending the Carnival period.
